Peter Alexander Benedetti is a multimedia fine artist who also specializes in multiple forms of digital media. He is a prolific painter with a BFA from School of Visual Arts. He currently resides in New York and has exhibited his work in a number of galleries throughout the country. Peter explores a variety of mediums and techniques in both his paintings and digital work. Trained as a fine artist, many of his direct influences derive from the modernist movements of the 20th century, such as Art Brut, Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art and Minimalism.
Although his paintings are very much informed by abstract expressionism, his digital work is much more illustrative in nature. The digital images are created primarily in photoshop using a variety of complex layering techniques, drawing methods and photographic manipulation. The paintings are created using various types of paint, varnishes and textures. Common materials used in these works include acrylic house paint, oil, enamel, spray paint, spackle, dirt, dryer lint, torn magazine clippings and photo transfer paper.
